Costco stores all across America are returning to normal. However, shoppers without masks or other protective gear will be turned away from the door.
Its been almost three months since the whole world has been forced into lockdown due to the novel Coronavirus. As the situation is coming under control, stores and offices around the world are slowly coming back to normal.
The new rules and regulations will come into effect starting next week. All shoppers and Costco employees will be required to wear a mask or some other form of facial covering at all times. The only exceptions will be toddlers and adults with a medical condition the prevents them from wearing face gear.
The press release reads,
“To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while at Costco.”
The new policy was released on Wednesday. On top of requiring customers to wear masks, the new policy also states that time between 9 AM to 10 AM will be dedicated to senior citizens (above 60). Additionally, healthcare workers and first responders will be given priority during open hours and will be allowed to move to the front of store lines.
The company has made it clear that the new rules and regulations are not a substitute for social distancing. Costco said,
“Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises.”
Costco has also detailed that it will only allow two people per membership card inside locations at a time. Note that this is for Costco stores across America. The Canadian stores are yet to announce the regulations.
