Beating all odds, the woman gave birth to four identical baby boys during the pandemic.
Giving birth to quadruplets is not as rare as we think it is. However, what makes this case so special is the fact that this woman gave birth to four ‘identical’ babies. The odds of which are anywhere between 1 in 11 million and 1 in 15 million births.
Jenny Marr’s (mother of the boys) OB-Gyn said,
“It’s unbelievable. It’ll never happen again in my career. I said, ‘Girl, go buy a few lottery tickets because those are the kind of odds we’re dealing with.”
Usually, this type of pregnancy follows after the couple uses fertility drugs; however, Jenny and Chris detailed they neither used any drugs, nor do they have any sort of family history of multiple births.
This came as a surprise to both the families.
Initially, the couple thought that there was something wrong with the pregnancy, but when they went for a routine checkup. The technician said nothing was the matter, except that she was going to have three babies, not just one.
In the next appointment, the technician revealed that there was another baby too. The couple was having quadruplets.
“I made the joke that I am not coming back because there are going to be five babies next time. We were just shocked. Jumping from three to four was easier to swallow. Just after that, we heard they were healthy.”
The babies came into the world at their 28-week mark. Although they shared the same placenta, each one of them developed well.
Jenny gave birth via C-section, and all four boys entered the world in a matter of minutes. Three of the babies needed oxygen, however, and all four stayed in the NICU for about ten weeks. They are all healthy now and are enjoying life at home.
Having babies during the pandemic is already difficult. Imagine having four.
