Mrs. Cleife was given a surprise birthday party by her friends and family. The 100-year-old woman gets to celebrate her birthday every four years and if seen technically, she has just turned 25!
Doris Cleife is a woman who will celebrate her 25th birthday this year. The woman was born in a leap year and gets to celebrate her birthday every four years. As she turns 100th this year, Doris shared how she had "waited all life to be famous and now it happens like this".
Doris worked as a hairdresser for 20 years in the city of Portsmouth. The woman's husband, Sam died in 1979 and so she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law with whom she lived for 40 years. However, after her daughter's death, she moved into her independent accommodation run by not-for-profit Housing 21.
Talking about her life, she expressed, "I just take it as it comes, I can't do much about it. I never dreamed I would get this far, I lost my mother when she was quite young and my granny died when she was 47 but here we are, and I have a sister who is 98. I don't feel any different."
The birthday party for Mrs. Cleife was arranged by her friends, family, and staff.
"We are so proud of Nan and she is thrilled to be celebrating such a significant milestone with her friends and family. Last year was very hard but we want to celebrate this amazing day and an amazing woman. She has been pulling our legs for months now saying she can't wait until her 25th birthday," Doris' granddaughter Rachel Bowen said.
When asked about her feelings for her 100th year, Doris said, "To be honest, I am feeling quite philosophical about becoming 100, but I am looking forward to spending time with my new friends and my family."
The woman added that the secret to her long life is eating healthy and love for walking.
Doris has two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
