This Elderly Bear Released After 25 Years Of Torturous Imprisonment Spends Most Of His Time Taking Showers In The Sunlight.

An elderly bear was filmed enjoying one of his daily sunshine showers a month after being retired from the circus after 25 years of torturous imprisonment.

After his 'retirement,' an old bear who spent most of his time in the circus was filmed enjoying a shower in the sun shower.

Toshka spent 25 years working in a circus, displaying tricks for the public, but was finally moved to a sanctuary for 'rehabilitation and life support' in Satanov in Ukraine.

A member of staff said he was frightened of humans when the bear first arrived at the sanctuary and remained concealed, but has since become secure in his new home and now likes to sit 'for hours' in the sun.

The bear can be seen sitting on the grass in the sunlight in a clip shot last month as water is sprayed onto him. He can be seen scratching his leg and rubbing as it falls on him at the stream, cooling him down.

Temperatures in Ukraine can be as high as 35C, so the cooling water was definitely a relief for the bear.

A staff member who looks after Toshka said his ' favorite pastime' was taking a shower in the sun, which I think you can probably tell from the adorable picture.

They added: "Most of his life he was a circus bear, and he was transferred by the last owner to us for rehabilitation and life support."

They said: "A month ago, we transported him and three other bears. Toshka was very afraid of people: he didn't leave the bushes for two weeks.

"Care and attention melted his heart. Now his favorite pastime is to shower in the sun. He takes a sitting position and is ready to sit for hours."

Here Toshka is hoping for a happy retirement, eh?

A bear that was forced to perform on a skateboard at a circus in Russia last year attacked its handlers during a performance.

The bear could be seen battered by its keepers with sticks, while frightened audience members began to cry out.

Speaking about the incident, Anastasia Mishcherina said: "My relatives and their little son went to the show.

"They sat in the front row when they announced the performance of a 'bear-visionary' or something of that kind. My relatives wanted to take a video and went closer to the exit.

"Even on video, it is clear that the animal was nervous. Reluctantly slipping off the ramp, the animal wanted to leave, but he was pulled back.
"Perhaps he realised that another flogging was waiting for him, and he decided to attack first."
