Kenny is a choreographer who believes in staying positive when life gets tough. Dad of a two-year-old, he posted a dance video with his son to mark his 11th month of being cancer-free.
On visiting her doctor during pregnancy, Kristian's mother was told that her fourth child had a 75% chance to be born with Down syndrome.
"When we received the diagnosis, [the doctors] made it seem it was like a death sentence," Kristian's mom, Josilyne said in a blog. "Many, many times they would come to us and tell us that maybe we should abort Kristian because he could possibly have brain issues and heart issues."
After Kristian's birth, he was diagnosed with a blood disorder often found in Down syndrome patients. The boy had a low blood platelet count. Due to this, the doctors warned the parents that he could eventually develop leukemia.
According to PIX 11, in June 2018, the one-year-old child was diagnosed with Leukemia. He was admitted to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for chemotherapy.
The child's father and a choreographer by profession, Kenny wanted to make the process easier for his son and so he danced to distract him from treatments. After his first round of chemotherapy, Kenny uploaded his first dance video (to song Level Up by Ciara) on Instagram.
"I've been doing these videos and people have been loving them since the first one that I did," the hero dad told PIX 11.
"I figure why...be the dad that's grieving and complaining about his son being in the hospital and his family being in the hospital all day? Why don't I change things up a little bit and let's show people how to be positive in this situation?"
The boy got free of his final chemotherapy session in November when he was declared cancer-free by the doctors.
Recently, Kenny posted another dance video to celebrate his now two-year-old child's 11 month anniversary of being cancer-free. The video has gone viral since its upload and people can not stop sharing their love with the optimistic father and son.
