Kleon could not tolerate staying away from his family and the homesickness caused him to travel all the way to his home on his cycle. "I like adventures so when I couldn't fly home I decided to go by bike. I had a lot of punctures and had to put up with snow, hail and intense heat," he told.
The pandemic has affected everyone in some way or another. Many have spent this time stuck in cities and places far from their homes and loved ones. One such person is Kleon Papadimitriou who is a student in Scotland.
The young guy had been longing to get back with his family in Greece and so he decided to take a decision that is not so usual in this day.
The 20 year old's family lives in Melissia, near to the Greek capital of Athens while he studies in the University of Aberdeen of UK.
Taking tent, peanut butter, bread, and sardines, the motivated boy embarked on his trip (through Europe) to Greece.
As the young man reached home, his family gave him a warm welcome with a laurel wreath and a lovely banner that read 'Welcome Home Kleon: One more challenge accomplished!'
He later gave details of his excited journey to the Mirror and shed light on the struggles of his long expedition.
"I like adventures so when I couldn't fly home I decided to go by bike. I had a lot of punctures and had to put up with snow, hail and intense heat along the way. Sometimes the bicycle tire burst two or three times a day, and that not only cost me a lot of time but it wasn't good for my morale either. It was a lesson I had to learn to manage. I'm a bit saddle sore but it was worth it," he said.
It seems like Kleon is fond of adventures as he also climbed Kilimanjaro in September 2019.
"Summited at 5895m!," his Facebook post read.
