A mum from Britain got a £50 ($65) fine from Torbay Council for the wheels of her car were inches over the line. The woman made a claim that she's been given 'Britain's harshest parking ticket' for turning her car wheels about an inch over the white lines of a parking bay. Rebecca Edge took several pictures of her car and shared them on social media to call out the warden for taking a 'crazy' decision. The woman would not have been charged if she'd have straightened her wheels but the turned wheels caused the unfortunate event.
"It is tricky to park there and the wheel has gone just about an inch over the line. If you get down on the floor then one edge of the tyre is slightly over, but the entire body of the car is within the bay. It just seems so ridiculous and very petty. It feels incredibly unfair," Rebecca explained.
The 35 year old had gone for a walk with her partner and children when the 'harshest parking ticket' was issued.
"We went to Cockington for a walk with our twins and parked in the main car park right in the village. We managed to squeeze into a corner. When we got back we could not work out why we had got the ticket. We thought it must have been a mistake," the mother-of-four added.
"I opened it up and read through and it is said we had not been within the parked bays. I looked around and could not believe it. We were going to go on and have a pub lunch but decided not to and went home. We have now contested it and are waiting for the outcome. It's an expensive ticket and when we shared it on Facebook other people were shocked and said we needed to fight it," she continued.
"I would like to find the warden and ask what was going through their mind. Did they genuinely think it was a fair ticket to issue. If one of our wheels was entirely over the line then I could understand it, but this was only about an inch. It is really, really petty."
