Mom helps boost children confidence by letting them customize their hearing aids.

This mother of two in the UK decided to come up with a company that lets children customize their hearing aids so that they feel less self-conscious.

Degenerative hearing and hearing loss are more common than we think it is. Where teenagers and older people learn to bear with the limitations, children don’t understand the whole concept and grow self-conscious.

Hence, Sarah Ivermee, a mother of two boys from the UK, came up with this unique idea to encourage children who wear hearing aids or cochlear implants.

One of her boys, Freddie, requires hearing aid since he is deaf in one ear and has hearing loss in the other. While talking to other moms with children having similar disabilities, she found out that many kids who wear hearing aids feel lesser than other children and are conscious.

This inspired Sarah to come up with lugs, her own little startup that creates hearing aid kits with stickers and soft PVC charms.

This way, Children are able to customize their hearing aid devices with their favorite characters. Lugs are constantly adding new kits and all of them are compatible with most of the hearing aid models on the market.

Sarah first tested the kits with her own son, and when he decided that he loves it, she started selling them. There are literally hundreds of designs for kids to choose from. Children can customize their aids with anything from their favorite cartoon characters to seasonal designs.
