Fans were surprised when Kanye announced on Twitter about his plans to run for the US president that too on American Independence Day. Kanye has been a vocal supporter of Trump and now he is all set to challenge Donald Trump in the coming elections.
We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸! #2020VISION— ye (@kanyewest) July 5, 2020
This is not the first time Kanye mentioned his plans to run for the president. He once tweeted '2024' which people took as a sign of his intention to run.
He also spoke about it during an appearance at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival in November 2019.
“When I run for president in 2024,” West said, interrupted by an outbreak of laughter. “What y’all laughing at? We would create so many jobs! I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk.”
