An Instagram model is under fire after she posed for photos for her social media pretending to be on the business class section of an airplane.
Over the past few years, social media influencer culture has grown rapidly. However, this has also affected our ability to understand who is fake and who is not. This story is an example of that.
Before moving on, I would like to clear out that there's nothing wrong with traveling in economy class. It's a significantly cheaper way to travel and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean you should try to convince your followers online that you are traveling in there when you're not.
There are many people playing fast and loose with the truth on the internet, and it's just setting yourself up for a fall.
This Instagrammer Oceane El Himer tried something similar. She tried to convince everyone online that she was traveling from Dubai to Monaco in the posh seats.
Initially, she shared a photograph of herself wearing a specific outfit standing in front of one of the expensive seats of the aircraft. She had the perfect airport look and all.
However, all this was a show.
Someone recognized her and spotted an opportunity to bring her down a peg. The person shared a snap showing Oceane wearing the exact same outfit while sitting in the normal seats with everyone else.
It is sad to see how Oceane felt the need to fake the class she was traveling in. We shouldn’t forget that everyone nowadays is a paparazzi nowadays. Even if people didn’t have camera phones, try and feel comfortable in your own skin.
She is the only person to have pulled a flex like this before.
Back in 2017, rapper Lil Bow Wow - or is he just Bow Wow now? - was caught in the act after sharing a photograph claiming to be flying to New York via private jet. However, he was snapped by someone who saw him in the coach seats of another aircraft.
The person wrote,
“So, this guy lil bow wow is on my flight to NY. But on Instagram he posted a picture of a private jet captioned 'traveling to NY today' smh.”
The moral of the story, folks, is not to try to present an image on the internet that is too different from reality.
