Husband and wife married for 80 years celebrate their 100th birthday together amidst pandemic.

This couple of college sweethearts, just after celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary, celebrated their 100th birthday together.

How many of you have dream of growing old together with your spouse? Most of you right?
This couple of college sweet hearts is literally goals. Billy and Nellie have been married 80 years since they first met in high school. Both have birthdays only four days apart. So, since they have been officially a couple, the two celebrate their birthdays together.
After spending 80 years of happy married life, this couple from Georgia celebrated another major milestone of their life together. Both Billy and Nellie turned 100 this year and like every year, they celebrated.

However, since due to the pandemic they could not gather all their friends and family together into one room, the pair decided to have a super special, socially-distanced celebration.

Talking about the day they met, Billy said,

“She was practicing for a play at Savannah High School on Washington Avenue. A friend of mine waved at her and spoke to her. I said, ‘who is that?’ He said, ‘that’s Nellie. She’s in my class, would you like to meet her?’ He turned the car around, took me back and introduced me to Nellie.”

Together the couple has three sons, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
When it was time to celebrate their 100th birthday, (Billy's on August 7 and Nellie's on August 11), the newfound centenarians’ family knew that it should not be anything meagre. However, to comply with the SOPs of the pandemic, the celebration was moved outside.

A parade of cars, golf carts, and bicycles drove past the Jones' home where they've lived for more than six decades while the birthday boy and girl watched from chairs on the lawn. Nellie wore a sash reading "100 & Fabulous," while Billy sported a hat that said, "100 never looked so good." How cute.

The pair sat in their yard surrounded by 100 balloons laughing and waving to all their friends and family who came to wish them.

Nellie admitted she was surprised that her family put together such a heartwarming celebration during such uncertain times. Nevertheless, her daughter-in-law Anne Jones knew both Billy and Nellie deserved to feel loved, even if their party had to look a little different this year.
The couple claims that their love is more than ever even after spending 80 years together.
