Friends star Matthew Perry and his fiancee Molly Hurwitz have parted ways and called off their engagement, just days after the airing of the much-hyped Friends Reunion.

Actor Matthew Perry has revealed some sad personal news just days after his appearance in the much-anticipated Friends reunion.

Speaking to People magazine, the 51-year-old revealed his engagement to 29-year-old literary manager Molly Hurwitz had been called off.

“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” he said in a statement

Quoting Matthew at the time, PEOPLE reported, "I decided to get engaged. Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time."

According to news agency PTI, prior to dating Molly, Matthew was in a six-year relationship with Lizzy Caplan before parting ways with her in 2012.

The broken engagement news comes several weeks after a young woman’s story of matching with Perry on the dating app Raya went viral.

A number of viewers expressed concern about Perry's health due to his appearance on HBO Max's Friends reunion special.

A concerned fan tweeted the actor: "You were slurring your speech a bit on the reunion. Take care of yourself. No more relapses, please. You're a great actor and we need you around!! [sic]"

Meanwhile, another tweeted: "Though I loved the reunion, it was difficult watching Matthew Perry like this. He was talking with a slurred speech. Sad to see our beloved Chandler like this."

Defending Perry in an appearance on The Hollywood Reporter's TV Top 5 podcast, the special's director Ben Winston stated: "[Perry] was great. People can sometimes be unkind. I wish they weren't.

"I loved working with him. He's a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners in the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this."
