Dr. Olivia Cuid uploaded a fast hack to make your mask fit better. The video has been making rounds on the internet since then.
Since the pandemic started, authorities and doctors have constantly been pleading the public to wear masks regularly.
One of the major inconveniences that follow wearing a mask is the loose fit. This is especially frustrating for people who use spectacles like me. Despite wearing a mask with an adjustable nose piece, I end up having glasses full of fog.
However, this hack uploaded on TikTok by Dr. Olivia Cuid was a lifesaver.
To make the one size fits all surgical and cloth masks more protective, follow these steps. It not only prevents fog build-up but also increases the amount of protection.
Cuid shows a hack to easily tightens the loose sides of the mask, with no extra tools or materials.
Here are the detailed steps:
1. Flatten and smooth out the mask, and then fold it in half lengthwise.
2. With the mask folded, tie a knot in the elastic band on each side.
Tie it as close to the corner of the mask as you can. Make sure the mask fabric is not caught in the knot.
3. With both sides knotted, unfold the mask again.
It will now look like an N-95 mask.
When you wear the mask after this, instead of a big, gaping flap of extra fabric, the sides will sit much more tightly to your cheeks.
