Despite being a common bird, these geogeous Blue Jays should not be as underrated as they are

Blue Jays, native to North America, are one of the most beautiful birds out there yet, no one talks about them.

The beautiful feathers of the common blue jay are anything but common. The world spends a lot of time featuring animals from exotic places, but no one talks about beautiful animals in our home places.

Blue Jays, with their striking blue colors and black details, are one of the prettiest birds out there.

Well! Maybe when you see something too often, you stop considering it as special. Even though they are little jerks and have a kind of annoying song, they do look exotic.
Rare, Blue Jays can be docile. They are quite jerky when it comes to dealing with other birds, though.

Fun fact: There's no blue pigment in a blue jay's feathers. The feathers are physically brown due to a high concentration of melanin.
They look blue due to the reflection of light. The structure of the jays' wings causes light to scatter, soaking up most of it and reflecting only the blue wavelength. Similar to how the sky looks blue.

These little birds are common throughout most of the central as well as the eastern United States and can also be seen in Southern Canada. Since they tend to linger closer to home year-round, their blues can be enjoyed in winter as well.
