The deleted footage revealed that the film could have been a lot more emotional than it was. One of the scenes showed Daniel Hillard (played by Robert Williams) having a conversation with her daughter who just could not let the idea of the family go. She asked her father (Williams) why he and her mother could not just pretend to be happy like actors.
"I may act like a fool, but I am your father, OK? Always. Rain. Shine," Daniel said. "That's the one wonderful thing in my life."
Another deleted scene showed Daniel arguing with ex-wife Miranda (played by Sally Fields) after she discovered that he had been Mrs. Doubtfire all along.
