Watch Andrew giving a heartwarming performance on stage and winning the hearts of the judges and audience in the process.
In a world with so much competition, the person who has talent is the lucky one. These people are born to shine. If given chance these people make their name written in history with their talent. But all this really depends on the chance they get. Similar is the story of Andrew, a 21-year old dancer with down syndrome. Andrew decided to showcase his talent on the BBC’s new dancing show: The Greatest Dancer.
The show is basically based on the voting of the audience. Dancers give their performance in a closed-off studio and if they impress the audience and are able to get 75% vote from them, then the studio doors open up to the stage. The dancer then gets to meet the ‘Dance Captains’ – Otlile Mabuse, Matthew Morrison, and Cheryl – and proceeds to the next stage.
Andrew attended the show with his mom Donna and friend Tom and the boy's mom appeared more nervous than him. His mom introduced him to the Captains and audience. She told them that her son fell in love with dancing at the age of 11. The audience and Captains then got to see various images of young Andrew dancing at home, learning that he taught himself a variety of styles and enjoys watching dancing shows in his free time.
Donna told the audience her son gained confidence with his dancing and that she would feel so proud to see him perform in front of such a big crowd.
Andrew once on the stage was feeling shy and nervous as the audience waited for the show to begin. But as soon as Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling!’ started to play, the young man began his moves and slowly burst into full action. The audience loved each and every moment of the performance and the counter in the corner of the screen showed the number of votes he was getting, and it started to add up very quickly.
The young man gave his performance and soon the studio gates opened up to an audience full in cheering mood. Giving him a boost of confidence, Andrew continued his performance and much to his delight, the young man got a standing ovation from the Dance Captains. When it came time for the Captains to share their thoughts, Cheryl broke down in tears. She was so touched by Andrew’s heart and soul, she just couldn’t hold back the tears.
The other Captains were equally inspired by Andrews's performance and praised the young man equally. Mattew told Andrew that he is “going to inspire a lot of people” with his performance and Oti called him “amazing”.
