Sherio is deaf and also partially blind due to which he’s had a tough time finding a forever home. This brave dog has lived in 2 shelters, 12 foster homes, and has even been adopted four times but was always brought back because of his disabilities. The hardships that Sherio faced only made him more compassionate and stronger.
A kind woman named Sheryl Smith when met Sherio, she knew she had to adopt him. She had cared for many animals in need and knew Sherio was destined to be her furry baby.
He was the happiest to finally found his human who would love him forever. Since Sherio been adopted, he’s been on a mission to spread the joy and “pass it forward.”
Sherio tries his best to help the animals his mommy brings home to foster. He showers them with his encouraging licks and kisses and plays with them to make the animals feel safe and loved.
In an interview with The Dodo, Smith said:
”Just after his rescue l rescued a pregnant dog who was too sick to care for her pups, so [Sherio] climbed in with them and started cleaning them. He’s done that with every rescue I take in. He will just sit patiently with the feral cats/kittens and bonds so strongly with them, they trust him before they trust me.”
Sherio is now safe and happy in his new home where Smith and her family give him all the love he deserves. But sometimes he still struggles with separation and anxiety as a result of his past.
Smith told to The Dodo that “he still to this day cries in the car because he thinks he’s being dropped off somewhere else.”
Sherio is doing much better now, he has become a source of comfort to the animals that Smith brings to foster.
Some days ago, Smith took in a feral kitten, called Tiny Tolley, who needed urgent care. The kitten was sick and Sherio stayed by his mommy to nurse the kitten back to health. He stayed by the kitten’s side as she grew stronger and healthier.
