Lex Friedman tweeted: "Mars economy will run on crypto." Another account called Elon's World then chimed in, suggesting: "Marscoin." It was at this point that Musk stepped forward in agreement, simply writing: "Yes."
As per Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, the currency of planet Mars will be based on cryptocurrency - if and when it comes round to it, of course.
The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX- Elon Musk, has been hinting at the possibility of human settlement on Mars. He also has shared quite a few details about the colonization of Mars and also hopes that by 2050 people will travel to Mars on his ambitious Starship rocket to start a new life!
After sharing his ambitions about Mars, Elon has also been seen taking interest in the possible economy on the planet!
It began when AI researcher and podcast host Lex Friedman tweeted: "Mars economy will run on crypto."

Even though its not clear if Elon was talking about cryptocurrency in general or agreeing on using Marscoin as the currency of Planet Mars, it seems pretty much clear that things will be digital for the Red Planet.
Recently when Elon changed his Twitter bio to 'Former CEO of Dogecoin, its value moved up about a third! based on this, someone suggested that the currency for Mars should be named Dogecoin.
Considering that Elon has a lot of time till 2050, he can surely think over the perfect name for the currency!
Earlier this year Elon also commented on how the living of humans can be evolved. He said that humans could reside in glass domes before eventually terraforming.
Elon Musk shared his future aims through Twitter and also claimed that quite soon humans will have a base on Mars.
Responding to a question about what life would look like, Musk wrote: "Life in glass domes at first. Eventually, terraformed to support life, like Earth." Elon further said that terraforming is a very slow process, we might not adapt to the atmosphere of Mars in this lifetime but at least we'll have our base on that planet! He said, "At least a future spacefaring civilization - discovering our ruins - will be impressed humans got that far."
during a virtual 'Humans to Mars' conference, Elon promised that a Martian settlement would be 'glorious' but admitted that it's not without its risks.
According to the 49-year-old billionaire, Elon Musk, getting to Mars is not the main issue, "The fundamental issue is building a base, building a city on Mars that is self-sustaining.
"We're going to build a propellant plant, an initial Mars base - Mars Base Alpha - and then get it to the point where it's self-sustaining.
"I want to emphasize that this is a very hard and dangerous, difficult thing, not for the faint of heart. Good chance you'll die, it's going to be tough going, but it will be pretty glorious if it works out."
