A monkey in China sharpened rock to free itself of the zoo cage. Many were surprised as the intelligent being bashed it against the glass wall that got crashed, scaring away the poor animal itself.
Monkeys are thought to be wisest of all animals (excepts humans thankfully). This has been proved true by a Colombian white-faced capuchin (Cebus capucinus) who is caged in a zoo in China. On August 20, the smart animal was seen holding a rock in his hands for a purpose that surprised many.
The monkey was seen sharpening the rock before striking it hard against the enclosure window, shattering it badly.
"The monkey was sharpening the stone, then it started hitting it on the glass. The monkey scared itself away, but it came back to take another look and even touched it," tourist Mr. Wang told.
Every visitor was entertained as the monkey surprised everyone with his stunt.
"This monkey is unlike other monkeys. This one knows how to use tools to break walnuts. When we feed walnuts to other monkeys, they only know to bite it. But it had never hit the glass before though. This is the first time. It's toughened glass, so it would never have got out," staff member of Zhengzhou Zoo, Tian Shuliao said while explaining the incident to local media.
"After it happened, we picked up all the rocks and took away all its 'weapons'."
