51-year-old woman from Illinois gave birth to her grand daughter as a surrogate since her daughter was having a hard time conceiving.
Mothers are a blessing of God especially for daughters. Most mothers out there would risk their lives just to see their children happy and this is what 51-year-old Julie Loving from Illinois did.
Loving’s daughter Breanna Lockwood has been married for a while. She and her husband were ready to start a family but mother nature had other plans. A couple of IVF treatments and miscarriages later, the Lockwoods were asked to think about surrogacy.
Even though Breanna was not very open to the idea, her mother pushed her to try it and even opted to be her surrogate. To which she finally agreed.
Breanna took to Instagram to announce the exciting news. She also took the opportunity to appreciate her mother for her sacrifice.
“My mom was an absolute rockstar through a difficult delivery. The sacrifices she took to bring this little slice of heaven into our world takes my breath away. Holding my daughter in my arms my heart is bursting. Every move and decision I make for my daughter, I'm finding the answers through how my mom raised me. The way she loves and the selflessness she exudes is pure, genuine, and kind.”
However, she was concerned about her mother’s health. She said,
“I just kept telling her no and kept turning her down pretty frequently, only because I didn't think it was a possibility with my mom's age, and my mom was actually menopausal. So, as far as I knew about reproductive science, that didn't add up, that wouldn't work.”
Nevertheless, when Julie was tested she was declared fit to carry the baby. Breanna thought her mother was just "crazy" to carry the baby for her. But Julie was sure she wanted to do it for her child. Eventually, Breanna agreed with her mother.
Through IVF, Julie was able to carry her daughter's baby girl in her womb.
“This is pretty much the closest place this baby could be, rather than my own body, is with her.”
The family welcomed a daughter named Briar Juliette Lockwood on 2 November 2020.
Breanna also made an Instagram account to share her and her mother’s journey with the world. In the baby announcement post, she wrote that the baby was 7 lbs. 1 oz and was "fantastic and healthy." She told the audience that even though she wants to share more about the birth of her child, she and her husband are just busy "soaking up these newborn moments."
